Blaufrankisch was a new one on me, until TWS sent me a bottle of Ferdinand Mayr Exclusiv Blaufränkisch 2022 as part of a Discovery case. Really enjoyed it, and (at £8.95) can recommend it as a more wallet-friendly alternative to the Pittnauer.

Thanks! Yes Blaufrankish is usually more pocket friendly in general. I think the age (13 years!) on the Pittnauer pushes up the price.

I am sure they are great and I can get NZ wines here in Oz but others are out of my range, geographically and economically

Yes, I am writing this in the UK so perhaps it's more of use to people based over here. I'm sure you can taste lovely wines that I can't get my mitts on. Most of the expensive ones here, I only get to taste at tastings. They're out of my budget too! What have you enjoyed recently?
